Leadership
Judgment is the product.
I build in regulated, consumer-facing categories where the wrong call costs trust rather than a sprint. This page holds my board bio, how I lead, and the credentials behind both.
Board bio
The long form.
For nominating committees, board packets, and formal introductions. Roughly 250 words.
Mariam “Mai” Olopade is a senior product leader with more than eight years in product management and three years leading teams. She serves as a Digital Product Manager at Allstate, stewarding customer-facing digital experiences across mobile and web within a highly regulated environment where trust, clarity, and credibility determine brand perception.
Her work centers on judgment-led decision-making: weighing innovation against regulatory, reputational, and experience risk, and partnering with engineering, data, design, and compliance leaders to translate strategic intent into delivery. She has advanced equity-first and accessibility-driven design principles to strengthen trust across diverse customer segments, and has implemented AI inside customer-facing products where restraint matters as much as capability.
Previously she led growth and communications product work at Allstate, delivering an 18 percent increase in customer satisfaction, a 22 percent rise in policy renewals, and a 30 percent lift in feature adoption. Her market analysis identified three previously unserved segments and reshaped the roadmap for AI-driven features. She mentors product owners toward experimentation and evidence over instinct.
Mai holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ethics, Philosophy, and Communications from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she completed a competitive yearlong community research and direct service program for high-achieving undergraduates. She also holds a certificate in Machine Learning and AI in Business from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Beyond her primary role she has designed and shipped the digital presence for three independent businesses. She builds by the Yoruba proverb Sùúrù l'èré: patience is profit.

How I lead
Four things I hold to.
Judgment before velocity
In a regulated consumer business, the fastest path and the defensible path are rarely the same. I weigh innovation against regulatory, reputational, and experience risk before it reaches a customer, not after.
Accessibility is not a phase
I advance equity-first and accessibility-driven design because a product that only works for the median customer is a product that quietly excludes the rest. Trust across diverse segments is built by default, not by retrofit.
Evidence over instinct
I mentor product owners toward experimentation and data-driven decisions. The measure of leading product is not what I ship. It is what the team ships without me.
Alignment is the work
Engineering, data, design, compliance, legal, marketing, sales. Strategic intent survives contact with delivery only when those rooms agree on the same problem. Getting them there is most of the job.
The track
Eight years, four rooms.
